Executive Summary of cyber bullying 2014
Cyber bullying 2014 is an online campaign by the Square Window Public Relations Agency. The idea came after the issue of cyber bullying has increasing from year to year. In 2012, as reported in Berita Harian, the report made by the Cyber Security Malaysia shown that the cyber crime in this country has increased to 88%. The cyber bullying issue has increased from more than 300 cases in 2013 compare to the 2012 by 250 cases (Sinar Harian, 2014).
This is happening because 25% of the parents do not know that their kids are talking to the stranger in the social media and only four out of ten parents are alert in their kids’ activities. In addition, most of the victims are too open in sharing their personal problem to the unknown person in the social media. Thus, this online campaign is to educate the students about the effect of cyber bullying and how to handle the situation if the student is one of the victims.
The cyber bullying 2014 is an ongoing campaign and it has activities on going for the students. As for the promotion tool, in conjunction with Hot Fm Zoomers - Sekolah dan Uni, the road tour is held for any schools or universities that are interested. Due to the prior, the students may send their application through the website and the Hotfm Zoomers’ team will come down to spread the information about the cyber bullying.
Other than that, for first 30 universities students who are registered for joining the Team Building with Fitness First will get special gift. Other than that, Hairul Azreen, the first winner of Fear Factor Malaysia 2013 is going to be the special Marshall during the team building to bring some entertainment and enhance a good character to the students.
Cyber bullying is not a new issue in Malaysia but it seems like the public are lack of awareness about this issue and the media is less highlighted about cyber bullying. Therefore, together we unite and against cyber bullying. Don’t be mean behind the screen.
